Aims, Objectives and Scope

Aims

  • To provide access to research dissemination, and scientific knowledge transfer to broader national and international community including researchers, practitioners and students in all health researches  pertinent to public health, clinical medicine, and biomedical sciences.
  • To create a platform that helps to identify cardinal and socio-economically relevant issues which suggest solutions for policy implication on public health, clinical medicine, and biomedical sciences issues.

Objectives

The major objectives of the Journal are to:

  1. encourage, stimulate and promote research among researchers, staffs, and students on issues pertinent to public health, clinical medicine, and biomedical sciences;
  2. provide scientific information on clinical, public health, and other health and health related problems for scientific community for the staff of the college as well as University and the country at large;
  3. disseminate research results to the scientific community and other end users on issues related to public health, clinical medicine, and biomedical sciences ;
  4. provide a forum for members to share observations, experiences and ideas on public health, clinical medicine, and biomedical sciences ;
  5. serve as a link for researchers active in various fields of, and related to, public health, clinical medicine, and biomedical sciences ;

Scope

The African Journal of Health Sciences and Medicine (AJHSM) seeks to promote to scholarly debate best practice and ethical standards in the conduct and reporting of research in the area of public health, clinical medicine, and biomedical sciences. The help authors, editors, and others involved in peer review and biomedical publishing create and distribute accurate, clear, reproducible, unbiased research articles. This journal may also provide useful insights into the medical editing and publishing process for the media, patients and their families, and general readers. Besides original research articles, AJHSM , case report, case series, systematic review, clinical trials, methodological articles,  book reviews, synopses of major research findings, short communications, and commentaries (rejoinder to comments on published articles). To ensure the quality of publication, AJHSM is committed to undertaking double peer-review process of all submissions and strives to enhance timely publication.

AJHSM  accepts manuscripts that focus on the nexus between public health, clinical medicine, and biomedical sciences in areas pertaining to, but not exclusively focusing on epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, anesthesiology, psychiatry, midwifery, medical laboratory, pharmacy,, environmental health, reproductive health , maternal and child health, health human resource management and facility management, and health policy recommendations
